Hello again! I thought I’d take some time to tell you about my month and how its gone.
We have been following the Fifa World Cup. We’ve all been given team to represent, and my team is South Africa! Each day we get an update on how the games have been going and what stage of the tournament we are up to. We’ve even been learning some interesting facts about it.
We had a masquerade ball too. The hall looked so nice with cool lights and stars. We all wore our best clothes and masks. Earlier in the month we practiced our dances and I practiced asking ladies to dance!
We had a brass band come to visit too. The music was loud and great! I had a great time watching them.
In sports I’ve done quite a bit. I coloured a target one day and practiced dancing another. We got a new basketball hoop that we played with and I also practiced catching and throwing a ball across a table to build my confidence up.
The theme for my photography has been EP and Me. Elvis Presley is still my best friend and its been great to have him for a theme for photos.
In the guys group we went to Selwyn park one day and played tennis. Another time we went to the library and I looked up a book on my favourite topic, Spiders!
We are still writing a story together in LIteracy called Jack and Batman's Adventure. It's a great story and I can’t wait to see how it ends.
In cooking we made blueberry muffins for the ball. We also made pasta sauce from scratch and a chick pea curry which tasted great! I’ve become really good at measuring and adding ingredients and mixing. Plus we ended each cooking session with washing and drying dishes and wiping tables.
In life skills we learnt about personal hygiene one day and another we learnt about reading clocks. We looked at analog and digital clocks and matched the correct times to each other.
Things I’ve done in other sessions is listen and learn about New Zealand artists and sign language songs. Mary Poppins is still continuing in Roleplay and that's been a lot of fun. I've played a stop and go music game, and we had a trumpet session where I listened to a trumpet and banjo. We even made a marae out of paddlepop sticks and added matariki stars.
It’s been a busy great month and I’ll catch you again in July.
